Blow Molding 101
Why choose blow molding?
- Blow molding tools can be made with lower cost
blow molds.
- Blow molding is very well-suited for manufacturing
hollow plastic parts.
- Blow molding allows for either double or single
walled designs.
- Blow molded parts can be light weight, yet strong
and durable.
- One blow molded part can replace several single
parts glued or
welded together.
- Blow molding usually costs less than injection
molding.
- Blow molded parts usually cost less per piece
than rotational molded
parts
due to faster cycle times.
- Blow molding is ideal for airtight or liquid
filled containers.
- Blow molding works well for high or low production
rates.
- Blow molding allows for flexibility in design
change, and at less cost
than other processes.
- Blow molding allows parts to be made from a
wide variety of materials
for
strong part performance,
durability, and high impact resistance.
- Blow molds are the most cost effective way
to create hollow plastic parts.
Blow molded parts are made
by extruding hollow molten plastic between
two mold halves.
When the mold is closed, air is injected into the mold
and
forces the plastic to conform to the shape of the mold cavity.
